Good shoes take you good places!!

Sooooo I am back 🙂 With all the pregnancy and post- pregnancy stuff ( which has been amazing so far) I had little to no time in writing something in here though I have soo much to share —I plan to spend some time in coming days and post a couple of things I have in my mind – super soon 🙂

For starters, I couldn’t resist posting about this amazing oxfords I bought online, and to my surprise they weren’t just cheap but also super duper comfy. As it was my first time buying stuff from this website, I was skeptical about the quality and comfort. So I did go by size chart and reviews – boy am I glad ? I ordered a size up ( am a US 6 so got a 6.5) and it fits perfect. These oxfords are so great for the below reasons.

  1. Because of the material ( looks leather but has this softness that you feel like you are actually just wearing socks )
  2. They have a variety of colors ( over 10) you can choose from
  3. They look classy and go with shirt dresses, pants and shorts for summer.

Here is the link to the store that I bought from and attaching some pics of the shoes that I am soooo in love with  : .

I got the brown color for Cost : 15 bucks ( plus you can find a lot of coupons online for free shipping )

Embroidery Love!

I am obsessed lately with embroidery blouses and this one is my favorite recent buy!
A beautiful and comfortable hi-low tunic blouse which can be worn with leggings, Shorts or even as a short dress. I paired this chic top with a mesh black legging in this pic.
I completed this look with “Paduka” kind methiyadi flats. The one i am wearing is exact same as the pic in the below link.

This top is a little bit see through but perfect for this summer/Fall.I hope you love it!

Details below:

PS: This legging is one of the best leggings i have ever worn. Soft and very stretchy fabric.

Must have Shoes for Spring

Now that winter is over and with spring coming up, Aren’t we all ready to kick off this season with some really cool shoes? I am starting to believe shoes are woman’s true best friend and if you are planning on making a major investment on shoes this season, then maybe this post is helpful.

I wanted to share some of my personal “spring must-have” favorites from my shoe closet.

  1. White Sneakers: This can never go wrong. Classic white converse sneakers are my go-to favorite. You can pair them with anything from dresses to shorts. Fashion is about comfort and these cute sneakers are trendy yet comfortable, with a bonus that these are super affordable. Below is the link to the one I have:—womens/193281

  1. Floral Prints Slip-Ons (Loafer mule): Welcome spring or summer with floral prints. Floral prints always adds an oomph factor to anything you are wearing. I am a huge fan of loafers and this slip on- loafer is my best investment for this season. It’s not only pretty being colorful but is equally comfortable if you day requires a little bit of walking.

The best part about slip-ons is we don’t need to spend time tying laces or putting on straps. It’s easy and comfortable. I got mine from Shein (I have an older post about it). You can find similar ones in DSW too.

  1. Classic Sandals: On the days you want to flaunt your beautiful pedicure, sandals are the ones to go to. I got mine from Charming Charlie, in Turquoise blue (picture attached) – I don’t think they have the same color anymore but you can find similar ones in the below link.

  1. Espadrilles: There is no better way to kick off a beach season than with a pair of espadrilles. These are very comfortable platform flats which offers some much more to this shoe than just walking.  I usually pair this one up with comfortable jeans , a linen shirt and I am good to go.I have something similar to the below one (in solid black though).

Let me know if this post helped you prepare a Shoe checklist 🙂

“Let’s keep it Natural”

As I had promised last week, I will be sharing some DIY face masks today, YAAY!!!

I love DIY home-made packs/masks – because they are all natural and they work the best. Thanks to my Grandma and Mom, I have always enjoyed doing homemade masks as a teenager – for example: using cucumbers/tomato juice or yogurt on my face, eggs on my hair, or weekly Gingelly oil baths (Full body – which I do even now).May be that’s why I am passionate towards writing about skin care, and encouraging everyone to continue doing the regimens knowing how good their results are.

Having said that, before I start with my face mask recipes, I will describe my skin type.

  • My Skin Type: combination of both dry and oily type.
  • I have had days when I have a clearer skin and days with blemishes.
  •  Acne-prone – Reasons: Hormonal, I also use a lot of makeup products and I travel every week (so stress affects my skin to an extent too).

Summary: My skin basically revolts a lot time to time!!

Things I do : I make sure I go for my regular monthly facials/face clean-up visits to take care of it (when you are 30+ you will know why this is important :)). I am also a huge DIY fan, so I figured there is no better time than now to experiment. I keep trying a lot of face masks – some work for me, some don’t!

Be good to your skin. You’ll wear it every day for the rest of your life.

So below , I will just talk about some of the ones that truly worked. Though there are many more to my list of DIY’s, these are the personal favorites.

  1. Rice flour with milk face mask : I read somewhere, rice flour helps in fading the acne marks and it’s a very common skin care ingredient in ASIA. So I decided to use this.Mix Rice flour with milk(a paste like consistency) and apply on the face for 15 mins before rinsing it off. Continuous use of this will definitely help fade away the stubborn acne spots from face.

Benefits: This is working on me slowly (I use it weekly once, but you can use it 2-3 times a week for expedited results).Rice flour also acts as an amazing exfoliator so I scrub it off with water really slow (just so I don’t hurt my skin) while rinsing.

  1. Cinnamon, nutmeg and honey face mask : There is no mask that has worked as good as this one, FOR ME!!! This is one of the most effective face masks if your skin has pimples, is super congested or has acne spots. This can also be used even if you have a normal skin (but for those of you, I suggest you to use it once a month or bi-monthly in this case).

How to make the mask: Mix equal parts nutmeg and cinnamon powder into a bowl (between 1/2 tsp – 1 tsp). Add 1-2 tbsp of organic honey and mix into a paste. Squeeze ½-1 lemon wedge into the paste and mix it all up together. Apply/Massage to clean skin, chill out for 20-30 minutes and wash it off. I use this once a week. (I sometimes have a tingling sensation when I apply this mask, so I wash off sooner on those days)

Benefits: This mask helps to moisturize, minimize breakouts, clear blemishes, even skin tone, exfoliate, brighten your complexion, & so much more!

  1. Turmeric and rose-water face mask : This one is my go to face mask when I don’t have the patience or time to make any other face mask. Mix 1-2 tsp of turmeric powder( I use Kasturi Manjal) and 1-2 tsp of rose-water (make a paste like consistency).Apply this paste for 30 minutes and wash off when dried ( You can also mix gram flour to this – its optional)

Benefits: This mask helps to clean up acne, clear up skin, and remove pigmentation. Do this regularly to get desired results.

And as they say, try on a small spot to see if you aren’t sensitive or allergic to any of this, before you try it on your face! Let me know how you like it.

“Beautiful Skin requires commitment, not a miracle â€ś

Detox your SKIN

As many of you know,  I am a strong believer of DIY’s and home remedies. There are two reasons to it – Easy access and no side effects.

So Today, I wanted to share with you all, the MOST important yet simple skin care regime that we can follow at home to get clearer and healthy Skin – DETOX .

This whole detox and clean-living – as much crazy as it sounds, the concept has worked for me. Our skin on a daily basis does go through a LOT – like pollution, makeup, bacteria and clogged pores. All of this, in turn ageing our skin/causing wrinkles and age-spots. Detox is one of the magical ways to get clearer and healthy looking skin (of course eating right is primary but we will talk about it on a different day). Before I start with my detox regime, let me talk about my skin a little bit, just so you know what it goes through on a daily basis.

  • My Skin type: Combination (sometimes too dry, sometimes oily).
  • I have always had acne/Blemished skin (some hormonal around the monthly cycle).
  • I sometimes eat crap (ugh!) and drink occasionally on weekends – so that can do some damage too, internally and externally to my skin.
  • I have large open pores on few areas and I usually use pore minimizers during make up to make the pores look smaller ( We will talk about this also in a different post J)

Having said that, I am lucky in one way (thanks to my gorgeous mother – and my genes), I don’t have age spots yet or wrinkles (though I think wrinkles are beautiful). I think it’s important to have a healthy skin – am not targeting a wrinkle-free skin here. Now – below are some of the practices I follow religiously (trying to, for the last 6 weeks and is working on me lately).

  1. DETOX WATER 1: Tried and tested!!! So I know for a fact this works on me.

Recipe : 2L Water, 1 medium cucumber, 1 lemon (I squeeze some and also add some sliced lemons to the water),10 mint leaves, optional is- 1 or 2 slices of orange – prepare this water , refrigerate overnight and drink the next day

Benefits: This is great for general detox for the skin and body – by cleaning out harmful toxins.

  1. DETOX WATER 2: I love this one, personally – though I juggle between 1 and 2 time to time.

Recipe: 2L Water, 2 Lemons –thinly sliced, little bit of ginger – Prepare this water and refrigerate overnight and drink the next day.

Benefits: This mix  helps in flushing out toxins and also shed down some weight.

  1. WATER INTAKE: This other thing I follow every day is very simple : Drinking 3L of water everyday ( 2L Detox water included in this – there are days I don’t make detox water, I still make sure I drink 3L) and yes I measure my water intake.

These simple tricks have helped my skin improve in the last 6 weeks. Every skin care regime takes time and so have patience for this to reflect on you.

“The good news is that taking care of your skin does not have to be expensive or time-consuming”

Side note: I love sheet masks and recently I purchased this amazing set of Korean sheet masks from amazon which Contains vitamin E and collagen which keeps your tired skin lively and healthy – I have used 4 of them so far (once a Week) and its makes my skin feel hydrated, smooth and rejuvenated. There are 16 different types of them in this pack – each of them has a different objective. Try them and tell me if you like it!

Soon, I will write about few homemade face masks! Please follow and watch out this space for more.

“Because, Gorgeous Hair is the best Revenge”

I have always loved the idea of thick beautiful hair and as I am a Super-impatient person to grow my hair out and always hungry for new haircuts, I end up chopping my hair off every now and then.

But it doesn’t matter, be it short or long – gorgeous hair is all we live, desire and try for.

So I am sharing some of the home remedies I invest my time in – Every week: Without Fail, No compromises. (Sundays are reserved for my Hair-Care – but feel free to do this more than once a week). And Believe me when I say this, I take my Sundays Very seriously!!! 🙂

FYI: I travel every week for my job so my hair is always all over the place, going through different weather conditions, poor Eating habits and water changes. My hair sometimes doesn’t get the nutrition and support it needs, which in turn leads to dry hair which could break out easily.Soooo, I always try to take extra care to keep it clean and healthy. Because, good hair day makes me feel like I can rule the world!!! I hope you feel the same way.

All right, jumping into two remedies, I have tried and works best for my hair. And know what:  They work for any hair type J

Home Remedy 1:

  1. Castor Oil hair Mask : I have started this very recently since I heard someone talk about the amazing benefits of Castor oil on hair, skin and Body .Read about the Benefits of Castor oil online (I don’t want to copy paste that since its available online).
  • Pour few drops of coconut oil and few drops of castor oil (I mix it with equal portions) and micro wave for 30 seconds.
  • Apply the mixture on your hair and Ensure your scalp is fully covered.
  • Keep it on for 30 mins – 1 Hour and wash it off really well with any shampoo you use.
  • Use it weekly once or twice and notice the change in 6 weeks.

Benefits of this Hair mask:

  • Increased hair growth and controlled hair loss
  • a natural conditioner and moisturizer

 Where to buy:

I use cold pressed coconut oil from Costco and Below is the link to Castor oil I use from amazon:

Home Remedy 2:

  1. Onion hair Mask : This is my favorite hair mask and I have been using this for over an year now (Again – Every Sunday J) : Onion has a high concentration of sulfur that helps with numerous hair conditions that cause hair to fall out.
  • Based on the length of your hair (Mine is shoulder length, so I use one medium sized onion).
  • Peel off the outer layers and chop the onion and toss into a blender and make Onion juice out of it.
  • Place the pulp in a strainer (I use a muslin Cloth to do this) and squeeze out the juice as much as possible.
  • Now, massage the juice on to your hair (roots and scalp) and keep it on for 30-45 Minutes
  • Wash with shampoo of your choice.

Benefits of this Hair mask:

  • Onions are rich in Sulphur, which is known to minimize breakage and thinning
  • They are naturally potent antioxidants, which is why they help reverse the effects of premature greying
  • They have  anti-bacterial properties and help fight infections of the scalp. This in turn helps reduce hair fall as scalp infections can cause massive loss of hair
